Mariama McCoy

Bio:

Mariama is passionate about supporting children and families, a commitment shaped by her experiences as a first-generation student and community advocate. She earned her BS in Human Services with a concentration in Schools, Families, and Communities, along with minors in Education and English, and completed her MS in Higher Education Administration.

 

Her background includes serving as an AmeriCorps ABLE Leader for the Upward Bound Program at D’Youville University, where she taught English and financial literacy. Mariama also worked as a Campaign Assistant for the WNY Environmental Alliance, participated in Leadership Buffalo, and served as a Youth Leader for the National Federation for Just Communities, receiving the NFJC Youth Award in 2017. As a ULLC full-scholarship scholar at Canisius University, she helped launch the school’s first Tri-Alpha First-Generation Honor Society. She has also spoken on racism and segregation through the Buffalo Humanities Festival and Buffalo Toronto Public Media.
