Talk to your kid about social media - ways to begin
Buffalo, NY - What happens online has real world consequences.
EPIC - Every Person Influences Children, dedicated to families and children, believes the way to keep our children safe in cyberspace is open frank dialogue.
Here are a few tips from our experts to begin the conversation.
  • What is your favorite app?
  • What do you like best about it?
  • How often do you use it?
  • What is your favorite game? Can we play it together sometime?
  • What would you do if you were being cyber-bullied or if someone created a mean, fake profile for you or one of your friends?
  • Who would you tell if you felt unsafe using technology or being online?
  • What would you do if someone you communicate with online asked to meet you in person?

EPIC offers two workshops dealing with online safety for kids -
Tech Savvy: Online Safety ADULTS  and Tech Savvy: Online Safety YOUTH.
Each interactive workshop is one hour long, and explores technology, social media, cyber threats and what to do about it. The workshop is available for schools and organizations.
