A Message From EPIC: Stop Asian Hate
Dear Families, Partners and Community Members,
EPIC – Every Person Influences Children’s vision is a world where every child has a strong start and a promising future. Our vision is sometimes hard to see when there is violence or discrimination against people because of the color of their skin, their place of birth or origin, their religion or sexual orientation. None of these things define a person’s character, however there are members in our society that continue to treat others differently based on these qualities.
In recent months we have continued to see harassment and violent attacks on members of the Asian American Pacific Islander (AAPI) community. EPIC believes that all individuals deserve the opportunity to live safe, supported, and vibrant lives. EPIC strongly condemns all forms of violence, harassment and discrimination. Our society must do and be better.
Our vision for children requires acceptance and respect of others. The way we look or talk does not indicate who we are, what we value, or what we hope and dream for our families. The United States of America is a country made up of a vast population of people with many differences. Diversity makes our communities vibrant and beautiful. As parents, we all want the same things: safety and success for our children and our families. We must find ways to embrace the value of diversity in our communities. Our children are depending on us.
